A few things you may want to know before getting started.
What can I expect during my first session?
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We'll talk about what you've been experiencing, important parts of your history, what you'd like to change, and what you hope to gain from therapy. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what is “wrong” or what you need—we can figure that out together.
Do you offer individual and couples therapy?
Yes. Healing Hearts Trauma provides individual therapy as well as couples therapy. Treatment is individualized based on your needs, concerns, relationships, and goals.
Is therapy virtual or in person?
Services are provided through secure telehealth appointments, allowing you to attend therapy from a private location within a state where your therapist is authorized to practice.
What issues do you work with?
Areas of focus include anxiety, trauma and trauma responses, attachment patterns, emotional regulation, relationship difficulties, boundaries, self-worth, life transitions, and recurring interpersonal patterns.
Do I have to have experienced a major trauma to come here?
No. Trauma-informed therapy doesn't mean you must have a specific trauma diagnosis or one major traumatic event. Sometimes we're exploring experiences, relationships, losses, attachment wounds, or patterns that continue affecting how you feel and respond today.
What is your approach to therapy?
Therapy is active, collaborative, and individualized. Treatment may incorporate trauma-informed care, attachment theory, cognitive behavioral approaches, DBT-informed skills, emotional regulation, psychoeducation, nervous-system awareness, and relationship-focused interventions depending on your needs.
Do you provide LGBTQ+ affirming therapy?
Yes. Healing Hearts Trauma provides LGBTQ+ affirming care and welcomes individuals and couples of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, relationship structures, and backgrounds.
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance availability varies by state, plan, and how services are scheduled. Coverage and eligibility will be verified before beginning services whenever insurance is being used.
Can I use insurance for couples therapy?
Coverage depends on the plan, clinical circumstances, diagnosis, and billing arrangements.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Appointments are reserved specifically for you. Cancellation, rescheduling, and missed-appointment policies will be reviewed during intake and are included in your practice paperwork.
